The Fulton Kings

The Fulton Kings, our comptetition winning chess team, was honored on March 24, 2006. The students were presented with certificates and trophies for their winning season with a special guest, Mr. Salome Thomas-El. Mr. El greeted team members and their parents in a reception in the school library and each student got a copy of Mr. El's book, I Choose to Stay.

This new chess team has had great success this year under the direction of Gil Motley from the Germantown Beacon Center. The team participated in numerous competitions this year and was honored with an invitation the the Benjamin Franklin Celebration at the National Constitution Center.
The students represented the school districts's city-wide chess program. They were introduced by Govenor
Rendell and had the opportunity to meet Mayor J. Street and other important guests.
